Two Scouts with their chaperone will spend 24 hours, earning their Aquanaut certification and learning about marine science. These Scouts are from Venturing Crew 774, of Orange County Council in California. The Venturing program is part of the Boy Scouts of America, and serves youth ages 14-20. Crew 774 specializes in high adventure activities. Last year, Taleah Bozanic (who will participate in the Neptune 100 Project in May) was the Expedition President for their trip to Antarctica, where the group of 20 coed Venturers snowshoed, camped on Antarctica, scuba dove, and trekked across glaciers on the two week trip. They then backpacked 22 miles through the Patagonian wilderness before returning to the United States. Other activities have included dog sledding in the middle of winter in the northern Minnesota lake area, scuba diving in the Florida Keys, 100-mile plus backpacking adventures in New Mexico and California, a STEM trek in the Virgin Islands, and other adventures. They are currently planning a safari excursion to Africa, where they will meet and work with Scout groups in Kenya and other countries.
